In 4KR for e-safety week, the class have explored a google made interactive game called Interland. The students used this site to听explore 鈥楳indful Mountain鈥� where they discussed what is ok to share and what is not, as well as thinking about the consequences of sharing听 information online. They then answered the questions to complete the game level. They also explored ‘Reality River’ to consider the best approach when dealing with spam, scams and potentially harmful websites. 4KR and the rest of KS4 are becoming awesome in Internet Alertness.

INTERLAND :听

On Thursday, 6th February, we marked Time to Talk Day with activities focused on resilience and positive connections. As part of this, we created a 鈥楥ompliments Display鈥� to encourage kindness and boost confidence. Every pupil received an anonymous compliment from a peer or staff member, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.

In the afternoon, Engagement, ELTBA and Early Years pup0ils came together for a 鈥楽ing and Sign Assembly鈥� in the hall, celebrating communication in all its forms. It was a fantastic opportunity for students to express themselves, connect with others, and enjoy the power of music and signing whilst playing together and having fun! Through these activities, we strengthened relationships, built resilience, and reminded everyone of the importance of lifting each other up.

ELTBA Resilience Day & Time to Talk

3HB enjoyed lots of time to talk on Resilience Day. We learned that talking is important for lots of reasons including feeling better about things and having a laugh. Some of the class loved playing 鈥榃ould you rather 鈥�?鈥� even though some of the choices were tricky! 3HB like to play board games and we often have great chats when we do.

This week, the theme of our Connect Challenge was “Quiet Reflection.” We invited staff and pupils to pause and check in with themselves, giving an opportunity to explore how they were feeling amidst the hustle and bustle of school life. We鈥檝e heard about lots of great things happening throughout the school, as classes took part in a variety of activities.

Pupils enjoyed quiet time in our outdoor learning area, where nature provided the perfect backdrop for quiet reflection. Rahme鈥檚 class and Early Years explored the gentle movements of , promoting relaxation and focus, while William, Jackson and Matthew enjoyed some quiet reflection together, during their peer interaction session on Tuesday.

Quiet reflection helps us connect with our emotions, can reduce stress and anxiety, enhance concentration, and improve overall mental health.

As we wrap up this week鈥檚 connect challenge, we hope you continue to embrace these moments of quiet reflection, while recognising the positive impact they can have on your wellbeing 鈥� why not try some more activities at home?

Pretty Amazing Piece of Work of the Week! The Percy Post!

I鈥檒l try and get this to be a separate part of the website and stand on its own, but some of our amazing students, including Callum and Ella-Rose, have produced an entire booklet, The Percy Post, on Publisher, in the Transdisciplinary sessions with some great staff. It鈥檚 really good and has some amazing stories, photos, lists and stories. They鈥檙e planning to produce one perhaps every half term, starting with a report on the residential. Really really good stuff! Here鈥檚 a taste of it! Well done to all!

The BfL team have been supporting our class teams with ratings for each individual student, agreeing and implementing interventions for our students such as individualised risk assessment, behaviour support plans, individualised timetables and supporting class teams with different strategies that can be used to support our students with their behaviour challenges

Let鈥檚 get the latest update from what鈥檚 been happening down in the fabulous Early Years

This week early years came alive with colour!

As part of our topic, we focused on rainbows and colour. We also celebrated Valentine鈥檚 Day with Valentine crafts. We really enjoyed colour mixing with the water spray bottles. We free painted our own rainbows. The rainbow sand in the tuff tray supported our fine motor development as we made marks and patterns. We made rainbow dough and used the cutters to make shapes.

Some of us enjoyed endless Peppa pig stories. Along with our daily visit to soft play, music exploration and yoga story鈥檚. Lovely sharing toys together too this week. Another fun week in Early Years

We were recently awarded the Bronze level of this, and Rebecca and others are already working on the next level. We particularly like it because it puts the voice of the child at its centre. Let鈥檚 hear what鈥檚 been happening

This week, as part of our work that we are doing towards our UNICEF Rights of the Child Award, we are thinking about Article 5.

This is a really important one for parents to be aware of and will form part of the work that we are asking you to support us with to gain our silver award.

Article 5 states that:听

The Governments should support my parents to help me realise my rights.

My family should support me to know and use my rights and make more of my own decisions, as I get older.

Article 5 says that the parents or guardians of a child or young person should act in their听. What these are will change as a child or young person grows up: a young person is able to do more things safely than would have been the case when they were a child or a baby.

Parents or guardians should be aware of the changing abilities, wants and needs of children and young people in their care, and should take these into account when thinking about how to act in their best interests. They should be aware of those children and young people鈥檚 evolving capacities. The law recognises that a parent鈥檚 role is more about guidance than direction once a young person turns 16.

Our trip to Eldon Sq! When they were there, the team were approached by two ladies who had been sitting nearby having lunch, who wanted to say how much they had enjoyed watching the interactions between staff and students, and how impressed they were. Isn鈥檛 that lovely feedback?

6HF had a fantastic time visiting Newcastle city centre as part of our work on personal care.听The students enjoyed popping into the shops to explore different cosmetics and experience the sensory extravaganza which is Lush!听There was so much to smell, look at and feel. Students were given lots of opportunities to communicate their preferences and make choices, though with so many gorgeous scents to hand, it was difficult! We bought a bath bomb to recreate the shopping experience back at school.听It was fun to have lunch out and watch people coming and going as they went about their day.听Community trips offer so much in terms of Preparation for Adulthood and we鈥檝e been enjoying going further afield to practise our skills in different and new environments

Lizzie鈥檚 class are a fabulous bunch, and it鈥檚 always a pleasure to see what they鈥檝e been doing. They鈥檙e always very busy and the atmosphere in the room is lovely when you go in. Let鈥檚 see a couple of things that they鈥檝e done this week with Rebecca

Domestic Abuse

Operation Encompass, what is it?

Operation Encompass is a police and education early information sharing partnership.听 It provides a set of simple and effective procedures that enable police forces to communicate with the school attended by children who has been exposed to domestic abuse or other forms of adverse childhood experiences.听The partnership enables schools to offer immediate support for children and young people experiencing domestic abuse, making a child鈥檚 day better and giving them a better tomorrow.

Operation Encompass directly connects the police with schools to secure better outcomes for children who are subject or witness to police-attended incidents of domestic abuse. Rapid provision of support within the school environment means children are better safeguarded against the short-, medium- and long-term effects of domestic abuse.

We are an Operation Encompass School which means we are a safe space for anyone who needs help or support.听 Our Domestic Violence champions and Key Adults in school are trained to support and signpost where we can, and provide a place for our families to feel safe.

Our star of the Pathway is Lysbeth from Hannah鈥檚 class. Lysbeth showed persistence throughout the session, using her VOCA to communicate the equipment she wanted to use, the design and colours. Lysbeth worked very hard to independently print the hearts onto the paper using a heart shaped tube 鈥� she was very proud of her work and observed it very closely when she finished.
