Welcome to 最新麻豆原创 School's Family Liaison Blog!

Happy Valentine鈥檚 Day. The week started with various activities celebrating it. On entry the first thing I saw was the Valentine鈥檚 stall set up in the library featuring hearts, cards, red roses and a Valentine themed curtain. They had a 鈥渘ame the bear鈥 too. There isn鈥檛 a themed Valentine鈥檚 menu, but the kitchen has lovely heart shaped decorations around the serving area and are making Valentine鈥檚 cupcakes.

Over the last few months I have covered, to the best of my knowledge areas on Preparation for Adulthood. These were identified through the survey sent out last year as topics where parents/carers lacked knowledge. This week, I have put links to all those I have covered. In the last month I have completed training from the DWP on Disability Living Allowance (DLA), Personal Independence Payment (PIP) and Access to Work. I will, after half term dedicate one topic per week. I am available to support families with applications. However, we cannot complete applications on your behalf. School can provide a letter of support, but please ensure that you allow sufficient time.

It is just one week till half term so here are the calendars again. We close at the end of the day on Friday 21st February and reopen on Monday 3rd March. School is not staffed in the holidays.

Free School Meals:

Those in receipt of vouchers for school holidays will receive an email from Edenred tomorrow with an activation date of 14th February. This is to ensure there are no queries over half term when schools are closed. Those who receive paper vouchers will get them next week. As always, I ask that you activate the vouchers on receipt so that they are not cancelled by North Tyneside Council. They are intended to help you with the cost of feeding your children during the school holidays.

Online Safety:

The link to the Online safety information can be found on the school website under the heading 鈥淧arent and carers area鈥, then 鈥渙nline safety鈥 from the dropdown menu.

This week鈥檚 online safety blog covers and addresses adult and mature content online. Here is the link:

Information: Preparation for Adulthood

Knowledge is empowering. Why am I making such a bold statement? My experience is that parents/carers of children with additional needs can better challenge decisions made about their children if they are armed with knowledge, guidance, duty of care and legal factors relating to their child. Being prepared is equally important, especially as your child gets older. They will leave education so the safety blanket of them receiving education and therapy will become more challenging especially when they are 18. So too will the fact that they are looked after during school hours enabling parents/carers to work if they so wish. So, it鈥檚 never too early to think about their future.

Information: Contact 鈥 for families of disabled children

鈥淧aying council tax can prove challenging for many especially with all the extra costs and expenses families face, but there are ways of getting help.

Activities: Ease Into

This is where you can get information on activities for children with SEND in North Tyneside. Children from other Local Authorities may access as our school is in North Tyneside. Please see posters below for information. I have spoken with their Social Inclusion Officer yesterday. They are working on increasing opportunities for children with SEND so please have a look and see if there is something for your child here.

Activities: Whitehouse Farm

FoPHS News

I had to end the week with a love themed quote, in honour of St Valentine鈥檚 Day.

“When we love, we always strive to become better than we are. When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better too.” 鈥 Paulo Coelho
